Check a subreddit before you post

Read a subreddit's full rules and its top posts this month, then check your draft against them before you post.

The jobTell me whether my post fits this subreddit's rules and what gets traction there.

Step 1

The prompt

In ClaudePick Check a subreddit before you post from Scrollhound's prompts in the + menu and fill in the blanks.

In ChatGPTCopy the prompt, replace the parts in angle brackets, and send it with Scrollhound turned on.

Prompt
Use Scrollhound to read the rules of r/<subreddit> and its top posts from the past month.

Tell me: what's allowed and what gets removed (quote the rule each time), whether self-promotion or links are allowed and how, and what the top posts have in common (format, length, tone). Then check this draft against the rules and say what to change: <draft>

Quote the rules exactly and link the posts you mention. If a rule is unclear, say so rather than guessing.

Not set up yet? Add Scrollhound to Claude or ChatGPT in about two minutes.

Step 2

What you fill in

  • <subreddit>Required

    The subreddit's name.

    Example: socialmedia

  • <draft>Optional

The post you plan to share, if you have one.

Example: I tested 3 hook formats on Reels for a month. Here's what happened…

Step 3

What comes back: a real run

Real run · 27 Oct 2026subreddit: socialmedia

What it read: r/socialmedia's 9 rules and its top 10 posts of the month.

Links and self-promotion: not allowed. Rule 5: "please refrain from unsolicited self-promotion or driving traffic to personal channels." What is fine: "sharing what worked for your own accounts or clients, with no link and no pitch."

Gets removed: one-line questions. Rule 3: "A post that's only a title or a one-line question like "best scheduling tool?" will be removed."

What gets traction: first-hand results and hot takes, for example "My client was paying for 20 hours and using 9. I almost lost them by saying nothing." and "Hot take: posting every day is overrated for small accounts".

Questions

What does the Check a subreddit before you post recipe need?

Scrollhound added to Claude or ChatGPT as a connector, and the subreddit's name. It reads Reddit.

Does it make things up?

The prompt tells the AI to quote people's exact words with a link after each quote, to say how much it read, and not to invent quotes or numbers. Every quote links to its source, so you can check it.

Does it post anything?

No. Scrollhound only reads. It never posts, likes, follows or asks for your social logins.
