Your agent can read X, YouTube and Hacker News.
Paste any post, thread, article or video into Claude Code and it reads all of it, transcripts and replies included. Then ask what's going viral in your niche and write posts like it.

[ 01 / 05 ]What it reads
Full text. Not snippets.
One command per job, compact Markdown out. Engagement counts are kept, nothing is summarised, and a next: line says exactly how to get more.
X
Threads, in full
The author's whole thread in order, long posts and Articles complete, images and quoted posts inline, plus the top replies with their engagement when the agent asks for them.
- scrollhound read https://x.com/…/status/…
YouTube
Videos, with the transcript
Title, channel and views, then every word: captions when the video has them, AI transcription when it doesn't. Long transcripts arrive in chunks your agent can page through.
- scrollhound transcript https://youtu.be/…
- scrollhound yt search "…" --sort views
X
What works, measured
A creator's last 500 posts ranked by engagement, or a niche search filtered by date and likes. The raw material for writing posts that land, plus your own bookmarks, searchable.
- scrollhound x posts @handle --sort top --limit 200
- scrollhound x search "…" --since 7d --min-likes 100
- scrollhound bookmarks search "…"
Hacker News
Hacker News, always free
The front page, Ask and Show HN, whole comment trees and search. It never touches your spend cap.
- scrollhound hn top
- scrollhound hn search "pricing" --since 30d

[ 02 / 05 ]How it works
One command in. Clean Markdown out.
Your agent asks in plain words. Scrollhound picks the provider, pages through results and hands back text built for a context window.
01
Cache first
Results are cached and shared, so a re-read within 24 hours costs nothing and comes back instantly.
02
Capped spend
Every paid call is metered. Each person has a monthly cap, and you see a warning before you reach it.
03
Retry, then failover
A failing provider gets one retry, then a backup takes over where there is one. Errors say what to do next.
[ 03 / 05 ]Built for agents
Install once. Your agent does the rest.
The skill tells Claude when Scrollhound helps. From there it finds the right command in --help and follows next: when a thread or transcript runs long.
- 01Compact Markdown. Sized for a context window. Add --json for scripts.
- 02Errors that say what to do. Every failure names the next command and exits with a stable code.
- 03Same tools everywhere. CLI, Claude.ai, ChatGPT and any MCP client share one engine.
# install the CLI and teach Claude when to use it$ npm i -g scrollhound$ scrollhound skill install# sign in once (opens your browser)$ scrollhound login
# Claude Code, as tools instead of the CLI$ claude mcp add --transport http scrollhound https://api.scrollhound.com/mcp# Claude.ai or ChatGPT: add a custom connector with this URL$ https://api.scrollhound.com/mcp
# every command takes --json$ scrollhound x search "saas pricing" --since 7d --json | jq '.data.items[].url'$ SCROLLHOUND_TOKEN=sh_… scrollhound hn top --json
[ 04 / 05 ]Costs
Cheap to read. Free to re-read.
No plans during the preview. Each read that calls a paid data provider is metered at its real cost and capped per person each month ($20 by default).
How limits work →- Hacker News, anythingfree
- Reading it again within 24 hfree
- A Reddit post with ~500 comments$0.0015
- A YouTube transcript (captions)$0.002
- An X search page, ~20 posts$0.003
- An X thread with 20 top replies$0.011
- A creator's last 200 posts$0.03
Worked out from provider prices, October 2026.
[ 05 / 05 ]Read-only
Schedulers write. Scrollhound reads.
- 01Never postsNo posting, liking, following or messaging, on any platform. There is no write path in the code.
- 02Never asks for passwordsNo X password and no cookies. Bookmarks use X's official OAuth with read-only scopes.
- 03Yours to deleteDisconnecting X deletes the stored tokens and every bookmark. Spend is capped per person.
Give your agent something to read.
