Mine the comments

Read the comments under a YouTube video, TikTok, Reel, Reddit thread or X post, and pull out what people ask, push back on and praise, with links.

The jobTurn a comment section into questions, objections and exact phrases I can use.

Step 1

The prompt

In ClaudePick Mine the comments from Scrollhound's prompts in the + menu and fill in the blanks.

In ChatGPTCopy the prompt, replace the parts in angle brackets, and send it with Scrollhound turned on.

Prompt
Use Scrollhound to read the comments on <url>: the top 100 comments if it's a YouTube video or a TikTok, the 60 newest if it's an Instagram post or Reel, the post with up to 300 comments if it's a Reddit thread, or the top 100 replies if it's an X post. Focus on: <focus>.

Then give me:
1. The 10 questions people ask most, grouped where they overlap.
2. Objections and complaints.
3. What people praise or say they want more of.
4. 10 exact phrases worth reusing in a hook or caption.

Quote people's exact words, put the link after every quote, and say how many posts, comments or videos you actually read. Don't invent quotes or numbers; if the sources don't support a point, say so.

Not set up yet? Add Scrollhound to Claude or ChatGPT in about two minutes.

Step 2

What you fill in

  • <url>Required

A YouTube video, TikTok, Instagram post or Reel, Reddit post or X post.

    Example: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XNcKUSL1CTE

  • <focus>Optional

What you want to learn, e.g. objections to the price.

Example: what stops people from trying it

Step 3

What comes back: a real run

Real run · 27 Oct 2026url: https://www.reddit.com/r/socialmedia/comments/1x1m87g/what_social_media_trend_are_you_noticing_right_now/

What it read: 1 Reddit thread in r/socialmedia and 38 of its 50 comments.

Complaints

  • Ads crowding the feed: "Every other video on reels is an Ad…" (36 points)
  • Instagram's ranking: "IG is lagging behind on all the popular trends/memes."

What people notice

  • Search moving to social: "half my crew just pulls up tiktok when they need to figure out a fix instead of googling it anymore"
  • Leaving social: "Meeting a lot of Gen Z who are opting for flip phones, and no social media."
  • Trust after AI: "the stuff that feels real and unpolished seems to do better than glossy ads"

Phrases worth reusing

  • "Creation got cheap, but trust got expensive."
  • "everyone assumes it’s AI now"

Questions

What does the Mine the comments recipe need?

Scrollhound added to Claude or ChatGPT as a connector, and a youtube video, tiktok, instagram post or reel, reddit post or x post. It reads YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, Reddit, X.

Does it make things up?

The prompt tells the AI to quote people's exact words with a link after each quote, to say how much it read, and not to invent quotes or numbers. Every quote links to its source, so you can check it.

Does it post anything?

No. Scrollhound only reads. It never posts, likes, follows or asks for your social logins.
