Competitor channel teardown
List a YouTube channel's recent uploads, read the transcripts of its most viewed videos, and break down their topics, hooks and structure.
The jobWork out what a competitor's best videos have in common, from their own words.
Step 1
The prompt
In ClaudePick Competitor channel teardown from Scrollhound's prompts in the + menu and fill in the blanks.
In ChatGPTCopy the prompt, replace the parts in angle brackets, and send it with Scrollhound turned on.
Use Scrollhound to list the last 50 uploads of the YouTube channel <channel> with their views. Pick the <videos> most viewed and read their full transcripts. For each one: the title, views, the first 30 seconds word for word, the promise it makes, and how the rest is structured. Then tell me what the top videos share that the weaker ones don't (topics, title patterns, length, hook style), and three video ideas this suggests for me. Quote people's exact words, put the link after every quote, and say how many posts, comments or videos you actually read. Don't invent quotes or numbers; if the sources don't support a point, say so.
Not set up yet? Add Scrollhound to Claude or ChatGPT in about two minutes.

Step 3
What comes back: a real run
Real run · 27 Oct 2026channel: @kallawaymarketingvideos: 3
What it read: Kallaway's last 30 uploads (median 60.6K views) and the transcripts of the 3 most viewed.
| Video | Views | Opening line |
|---|---|---|
| How Social Media Algorithms Actually Work (And How to Beat Them) | 1.2M | "Today we're talking about the social media algorithm. If you want to get more views with less effort, it's critical you understand how the algorithms actually work." |
| The Neuroscience of Addictive Storytelling (And How to Master It) | 364K | "If you want to learn how to tell better stories, all you have to do is understand one core concept, addiction." |
| How to Build an Audience That's Obsessed With You (The Power of Suggestion) | 195K | "If you want to build a valuable audience that's truly obsessed with everything you make, there's one psychological trick that beats everything else." |
What the top three share: each names one mechanism (the algorithm, addiction, suggestion) and promises it's the single key; two open with "If you want to…"; all run 17 to 24 minutes; every title adds a bracketed payoff.

Questions
What does the Competitor channel teardown recipe need?
Scrollhound added to Claude or ChatGPT as a connector, and the channel's @handle or url. It reads YouTube.
Does it make things up?
The prompt tells the AI to quote people's exact words with a link after each quote, to say how much it read, and not to invent quotes or numbers. Every quote links to its source, so you can check it.
Does it post anything?
No. Scrollhound only reads. It never posts, likes, follows or asks for your social logins.
