A weekly niche brief with Claude scheduled tasks
Set up a Claude scheduled task that reads your niche's top Reddit posts, X posts and YouTube videos every Monday and writes you a brief with links.

Short answer
Claude's scheduled tasks run a saved prompt on a timer, in the cloud, on any paid plan. Point one at your niche with a connector that reads social media, set it to Weekly, and every Monday you get a brief: the week's top conversations, the questions people keep asking and what content worked, with a link on every source.

Every social media manager has a version of the Monday scroll: an hour through Reddit, X and YouTube to find out what the niche talked about last week. A scheduled task does that reading for you, before you start, and leaves the brief waiting.
Scheduled tasks are part of Cowork. You write a prompt once, choose how often it runs, and each run is its own session on Anthropic’s servers. They can use any connector you’ve set up, which is the part that matters here: with a connector that reads social media, the task reads the actual posts instead of guessing at them.
The prompt
Fill in your topic and the subreddits you care about:
Use Scrollhound to build my weekly brief on "<your niche>" for the past 7 days:- Reddit: a search for the topic inside each of these subreddits: <subreddits>, plus their top posts of the week. Keep only posts that are really about the topic.- X: posts about the topic from the last 7 days with at least 50 likes, top first.- YouTube: videos about the topic from the last 7 days, by relevance, then weigh them by views.
Write the brief as: the 5 conversations that mattered most this week (what happened and why peoplecared), questions people keep asking, content that clearly worked (format and hook), and 3 ideas Icould post next week.
Quote people's exact words, put the link after every quote, and say how many posts, comments orvideos you actually read. Don't invent quotes or numbers. Two details in that prompt came from testing it. Searching inside the subreddits you name beats a Reddit-wide search, which drags in news that merely mentions your words. And YouTube results by relevance beat “most viewed”, which fills up with unrelated viral Shorts.
What a run looks like
We ran it on 27 October 2026 with the topic “social media strategy” and r/socialmedia. It read the week’s top eight posts in r/socialmedia, X posts about social media strategy with 50+ likes, and eight YouTube videos from the week. Part of the brief:
Conversations that mattered
- Client trust: “My client was paying for 20 hours and using 9. I almost lost them by saying nothing.” (75 points)
- Posting frequency: “Is posting every day really necessary to grow on Instagram?” (40 comments)
Content that worked
- On YouTube, Kallaway’s “Give Me 24 Minutes, I’ll Give You 10,000 Hours of Content Strategy”: 33.2K views in five days.
We also ran the brief as a real scheduled task that day. It finished in about two and a half minutes, with every quote linked.
Make it yours
- Change the cadence. Daily works for fast niches; “On weekdays” skips the weekend.
- Add competitors. “Also list the last week’s posts from @
on X and their YouTube uploads, and say which did best.” - Send it somewhere. If you’ve connected Slack or Gmail, add “post the brief to #social” or “email it to me”. Those connectors write, so check what your approval mode lets them do.
The weekly brief recipe has the prompt ready to copy, and Claude Cowork for social media managers has six more workflows that schedule just as well.
Questions
Does my computer need to be on?
No. Scheduled tasks run on Anthropic's servers, so they keep to schedule when your laptop is asleep or Claude is closed. Only tasks that use files or apps on your own computer need it to be on.
Which Claude plans have scheduled tasks?
All paid plans: Pro, Max, Team and Enterprise. On Team and Enterprise an admin may need to switch them on.
How often can a task run?
Hourly, daily, weekly, on weekdays, or only when you run it yourself.
What does a brief cost in Scrollhound credits?
Each search or page of results is 1 credit, so a brief that searches two subreddits, X and YouTube and opens a few threads typically uses 5 to 15 credits. Re-reading anything within 24 hours is free.
Can ChatGPT do this too?
ChatGPT has scheduled tasks, and OpenAI documents them with apps like Gmail, Slack and GitHub. We haven't confirmed that a custom server like Scrollhound runs inside them, so for now we recommend Claude for this.
