Terms of service
Last updated 29 October 2026
1. Who we are and what these terms cover
1.1 Scrollhound is provided by Doddle Software Limited, a company registered in England and Wales under company number 16256282, with its registered office at 127 Foundry Lane, Southampton, SO15 3LD, England ("we", "us" and "our").
1.2 These terms form a contract between us and the person or organisation that uses the Service ("you"). You accept them when you create an Account, sign in, or use the Service. They apply together with our privacy notice and our refund policy.
1.3 If you use the Service on behalf of an organisation, you confirm that you are authorised to accept these terms for that organisation, and "you" includes that organisation.
1.4 You must be at least 18 years old to use the Service.
2. Definitions
In these terms:
- "Service" means Scrollhound: the website at scrollhound.com, the account pages at api.scrollhound.com, the MCP server, the REST API, the
scrollhoundcommand-line tool and its agent skill. - "Account" means the account you hold with us, identified by your email address.
- "Platforms" means Reddit, X, YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, LinkedIn and Hacker News.
- "Third-Party Content" means posts, comments, profiles, video information and transcripts published on the Platforms, and any other content the Service returns to you.
- "Official Interfaces" means the interfaces that a Platform itself provides for access to its content, including YouTube API Services and the X API.
- "Data Providers" means the third-party companies we engage to supply publicly available content from the Platforms.
- "Connected Application" means an AI application or agent that you authorise to use the Service on your behalf, such as Claude or ChatGPT.
- "Read" (also called a "credit") means the unit in which use of the Service is measured, as set out on the pricing page and the limits and credits page.
- "Plan" means a Solo, Pro or Agency subscription.
- "Merchant of Record" means Stripe, acting through its Onelink service, as described in clause 7.
- "Including" means including without limitation.
3. The Service
3.1 The Service lets you, and Connected Applications acting for you, read publicly available Third-Party Content from the Platforms and, if you connect your X account, your own X bookmarks.
3.2 We obtain Third-Party Content through Official Interfaces and through Data Providers. We do not access any content that requires a Platform login, and we do not ask for, receive or store your passwords or session cookies for any Platform.
3.3 The Service only reads. It does not post, comment, like, vote, follow, send messages or take any other action on any Platform.
3.4 We may change the Service, including its features, the Platforms it covers and its limits. A Platform or Data Provider may also change or end the access on which a feature depends, and that feature may then stop working. If a change materially reduces what your paid Plan includes, we will give you at least 30 days' notice by email, except where a Platform or Data Provider ends access without giving us that much notice, in which case we will tell you as soon as we know. A change "materially reduces" a Plan if it removes a Platform or lowers the number of Reads the Plan includes.
4. Your Account
4.1 You sign in with your email address and a one-time code sent to it. You must use an email address that you control.
4.2 You must keep your sign-in codes, browser sessions and API tokens confidential. You are responsible for all use of your Account, including use by Connected Applications and by anyone who uses your tokens. If you believe a token has been exposed, you must revoke it on the Connections page of your Account without delay.
4.3 Each Account is for one person. You must not share your Account with another person or resell access to the Service.
5. Acceptable use
5.1 You must not use the Service to:
- break any law or regulation, or help anyone else to do so;
- harass, stalk or intimidate any person, compile profiles of private individuals, or disclose personal information about them;
- send unsolicited bulk messages, commit fraud, or distribute malicious software;
- infringe any person's intellectual property, privacy or other rights;
- create, sell or distribute datasets of Third-Party Content, redistribute Third-Party Content in bulk, or build a product or service that competes with the Service;
- make decisions about an individual that produce legal effects on that individual or similarly significantly affect them, such as decisions on employment, credit, housing or insurance.
5.2 You must not:
- circumvent any usage limit, Read balance or security measure, or open more than one Account to avoid a limit;
- extract data from the Service by automated means other than through the MCP server, the REST API or the command-line tool, and within the limits that apply to your Account;
- attack, overload, probe or disrupt the Service, or decompile or reverse engineer it, except to the extent the law allows you to do so.
5.3 You are responsible for complying with each Platform's terms that apply to your use of its content.
6. Third-Party Content
6.1 Third-Party Content belongs to its authors and the Platforms. Neither we nor you acquire ownership of it through the Service.
6.2 We supply Third-Party Content as we receive it. It may be incomplete (for example, a Platform or Data Provider may withhold or remove some comments), out of date or inaccurate, and transcripts produced by speech recognition may contain errors. You must check Third-Party Content before you rely on it.
6.3 If you believe Third-Party Content supplied through the Service infringes your rights, email hello@scrollhound.com with the link to the content and the right you believe is infringed. We will acknowledge your notice within 5 working days and remove our copy of that content while we review it.
6.4 Text the Service returns may be passed to your Connected Applications. Each Connected Application processes it under its own provider's terms, and you choose which Connected Applications to use.
6.5 The Service uses YouTube API Services to read YouTube. By using the Service's YouTube features you agree to be bound by the YouTube Terms of Service.
7. Reads, Plans and payment
7.1 Our order process is conducted by Stripe through its Onelink service. Onelink is the Merchant of Record for all our orders: it sells you your Plan or Reads, takes your payment, and handles payment questions, refunds and disputes. At checkout your purchase is shown as "Sold through Onelink", and your card statement names Onelink and Scrollhound. You also agree to the payment terms shown at checkout. Stripe charges you, collects any tax due and issues your receipts and invoices.
7.2 Free start. Each new Account receives 100 Reads once, without payment. Free Reads do not expire while your Account is open.
7.3 Pay as you go. Packs of Reads are one-off purchases. Reads bought in packs do not expire while your Account is open.
7.4 Plans. A Plan is a subscription billed monthly or yearly in advance. It renews automatically at the end of each billing period until you cancel it. Each billing period includes the number of Reads shown on the pricing page for that Plan; Plan Reads that are unused at the end of a billing period expire and do not carry over. You may cancel at any time under Manage billing on the Plan and billing page of your Account; your Plan then continues until the end of the billing period you have paid for and does not renew.
7.5 Pro launch price. If you subscribe to Pro at its launch price, that price applies to every renewal for as long as your Pro subscription remains active without interruption. If you cancel or change your Plan, the price in force at that time applies if you subscribe to Pro again.
7.6 Order of use. Reads are taken first from your Plan, then from your free start, then from Reads bought in packs. Reading Hacker News, reading the same content again within 24 hours, and requests that fail or return no results do not use Reads.
7.7 Reads have no cash value, cannot be transferred to another Account, and can only be used on the Service.
7.8 Each Account is subject to rate limits and a monthly usage limit, described in the limits and credits page, which protect the availability of the Service.
7.9 Prices are in US dollars and exclude tax. Any VAT, sales tax or similar tax due in your country is calculated and added at checkout before you pay.
7.10 We will notify you by email at least 30 days before any increase in the price of your Plan takes effect. You may cancel before the increase applies.
7.11 Refunds are governed by our refund policy.
8. Availability
8.1 We do not guarantee that the Service will be uninterrupted or error-free. The Service depends on the Platforms, Data Providers and other third-party services, which may be slow, unavailable or changed without notice to us.
8.2 We may suspend the Service, in whole or in part, for maintenance, to protect its security, or for reasons beyond our reasonable control. We will give advance notice on the website of planned maintenance that we expect to last more than one hour.
9. Our intellectual property
9.1 We own the Service, including its software, the command-line tool, its documentation and the Scrollhound name and logo.
9.2 While your Account is open, we grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to install and use the command-line tool and the Service in accordance with these terms. You must not copy, modify, sell or distribute them except as these terms permit.
10. Suspension and termination
10.1 You may stop using the Service at any time. To close your Account, email hello@scrollhound.com from the email address of that Account.
10.2 We may suspend or close your Account if:
- you breach clause 5 (acceptable use);
- you breach any other clause of these terms and do not remedy the breach within 14 days of our email asking you to do so;
- a payment for your Plan fails and is not completed within 14 days;
- your use of the Service creates a security risk to the Service or to other users, or involves fraud; or
- the law, a court or a regulator requires us to.
10.3 Before suspending or closing your Account under clause 10.2(a) or (d), we will email you and give you an opportunity to respond, unless doing so would increase the risk to the Service or other users, or the law prevents it.
10.4 When your Account is closed, your access and tokens stop working, any unused Reads expire, and we delete your data as set out in our privacy notice.
10.5 If we stop providing the Service, or close your Account for any reason other than under clause 10.2, we will refund the Reads you bought and have not used, and the unused part of any prepaid Plan billing period, calculated in proportion to the days remaining.
11. Liability
11.1 Nothing in these terms limits or excludes our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for any other liability that cannot be limited or excluded by law. If you are a consumer, nothing in these terms affects your statutory rights.
11.2 Subject to clause 11.1:
- we are not liable for any loss that was not reasonably foreseeable when you accepted these terms, or for Third-Party Content;
- if you use the Service for the purposes of a trade, business, craft or profession, we are not liable for any loss of profit, revenue, business, goodwill or data, or for any indirect or consequential loss; and
- our total liability to you in any period of 12 months, however arising, is limited to the greater of the total amount you paid for the Service in that period and £100.
12. Indemnity for business users
If you use the Service for the purposes of a trade, business, craft or profession, you will indemnify us against the reasonable losses and costs (including reasonable legal fees) that we incur as a result of a claim by a third party arising from your breach of these terms or from your use of Third-Party Content obtained through the Service.
13. General
13.1 Changes to these terms. We may change these terms. We will notify you of any change that affects your rights or obligations by email at least 30 days before it takes effect, and publish the updated terms with a new date. If you continue to use the Service after that date, the updated terms apply to you. If you do not agree to them, you may close your Account before that date, and clause 10.5 applies to any prepaid amount.
13.2 Transfer. We may transfer our rights and obligations under these terms to another organisation, including if the Service is sold. We will notify you by email if this happens, and the transfer will not reduce your rights. You may not transfer your rights or obligations without our written consent.
13.3 Events beyond our control. We are not responsible for any delay or failure to perform caused by an event beyond our reasonable control, including the failure of a Platform, Data Provider, hosting provider or internet service, a cyber attack, or a natural disaster.
13.4 Severability. If a court finds any part of these terms invalid or unenforceable, the remaining terms continue in full force.
13.5 No waiver. If we do not enforce a right under these terms straight away, we may still enforce it later.
13.6 Third-party rights. No one other than you and us has any right to enforce these terms under the Contracts (Rights of Third Parties) Act 1999.
14. Governing law and disputes
14.1 These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction over any dispute arising from them.
14.2 If you are a consumer resident in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you may also bring proceedings in the courts of your country of residence. If you are a consumer resident elsewhere, you keep the protection of the mandatory consumer laws of your country of residence.
14.3 Before starting proceedings, please email hello@scrollhound.com so that we can try to resolve the matter. We will reply within 5 working days.
